UVc lighting, a hidden solution for cleaner space

UVc lighting, a hidden solution for cleaner space

We have recently introduced a range of UVc Air Sterilisation Units, providing a safe, reliable and sustainable solution for a safe ‘Return to Work’ for many employers and employees.

The Clean Air Series is a range of efficient UVc lighting devices that actively reduce the bacterial and viral charge of the air in closed environments.

This truly innovative design can provide fast sterilisation for offices, classrooms, hotel rooms and healthcare environments.

The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) believes that UV disinfection technologies can play a role in a multiple barrier approach to reducing the transmission of the virus causing COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2, based on current disinfection data and empirical evidence.

UVc Air Purification Unit

The powerful UVc radiation is totally isolated inside the Air Filtration System (AFS) as exposure of UV light, of any type, in high dosage to the naked eye will cause potential long-term health issues.

The system draws in contaminated air and removes all bacteria through a series of integral filters and then delivers clean air back into the space. Each unit cleanses up to 3000 cubic square metres of open office space and is a simple plug and play system with no integration into the existing mechanical systems.

The clean air units work like an air purifier, but instead of filters it uses the UVc technology to eliminate the viruses. The fan located in the bottom of the fitting sucks in the air of the room and channels it through a series of UVc light canals that have the UVc lights. The UVc kills the viruses and the clean air is released in the room through a carbon filter.

The carbon filter’s main purpose is to clean the odours from the air, with an additional dust filter at the entrance of the fan, neither is essential to kill bacteria, this is the role of the UVc light.

Your questions answered:

Q: How fast can clean air completely remove airborne particulates a room?

The cleaning time depends on the size of the room. The clean air system needs 1

hour to clean a 25m/2 room or 5 hours to clean 100m2 room (99.999% as per

the calculations).

Q: What toxins/particles does it eliminate from the air?

Clean air removes all types of Viruses, Yeast, Moulds, Fungus, Protozoan, Algae

and other micro-organisms from the air.

Q: Can it be used while people are in the room?

Yes, clean air is safe to use in any environment and while people are in the

room. The fitting is built in a way that the UV light cannot escape, hence not

harming people.

Q: Does the room need to be ventilated?

Ideally, the room should be ventilated for 10mins every 10 hours.

Q: Will clean air cause noise disruption?

Each fitting makes the same noise as other machines using a fan. The noise

levels do not exceed the 48db.

Q: Does it circulate viruses or bacteria, or does it kill them immediately?

We utilise a very efficient engine that cleans the air while in the channels. The

extracted air is clean and does not circulate virus infected air. Human Cleanse is

using 10 times the required energy in order to make sure the viruses will be

killed in one circulation.

Q: Is the machine self-cleaning?

No, it is not self-cleaning, but it requires basic maintenance. The bulbs will need

to be replaced after 10,000 hours continuous use and the carbon filter should be

cleaned every 6-12 months depending on the usage.

Q: What is the machine’s life span?

The bulbs have a life expectancy of 10,000 hours and the fans of over 5 years.

Q: Why does it stand alone?

The air purifier uses a series of filters to clean the air. The size of these filters

varies but the smallest ones are 95μm wide. The COVID-19 is less than 3μm and

therefore can pass through the filters. The fitting kills the virus while in the

channels with the use of UVc lights, not with filters.

Q: Does it consume a lot of electricity?

The unit uses up to 380W. This is the minimum requirement to clean the room

efficiently.

Q: Is it safe to leave on all night?

Yes, it is safe to run it all night. Ideally clean air should operate while the space in

use, or before and few hours after. It is not required to be used 24/7. Daily use is

recommended for a safe, virus -free environment.

Q: How do you know when it is time for clean air to be maintained?

Sensors will indicate when the bulbs are not working. A light on the control

panel of the machine will turn on every time one of the bulbs needs to be

replaced.

Q: Is it safe to open the machine while in operation?

Even though, one should not open the machine while in the operation, the unit

has a sensor detecting that someone is trying to open the machine. The sensor

will shut the machine down immediately.

Q: Does clean air get hot when left on for a long time?

No. The unit has a self-cooling system.

Q: What is the ideal location in a home or office to place the machine for

the best results?

Clean air should ideally be placed in the most populated rooms, entrances,

halls, classrooms etc.

Q: Are replacement parts readily available?

Yes, all parts are available in stock at humanlumen. We always recommend

using original parts for longer life.

Q: What is UVc?

Ultra Violet light is the invisible radiation that included the wavelength range of

100nm to 400nm. UV light can be further categorised into 4 separate

subcategories: Far UV, UVc, UVB and UVA. UVc is the invisible radiation that

ranges between 200nm to 280nm.

Q: How long do the bulbs last?

The bulbs last up to 10,000 hours.

Q: How easy is it to replace the bulbs?

Simple on-site replacement.

Q: How long does the ventilator last?

The ventilators come with 5 years warranty.

Q: Is it safe to air clean for maintenance?

Yes, it is safe. A sensor detects that someone opens the machine and it will

automatically shut down in order to avoid any radiation from the UVc lights to

escape.

Q: Does the machine have a warranty period?

5 years warranty for the entire machine and for 10,000 hours for the bulbs.

Q: How much do the units cost?

Dependent on quantity and location.
